Middle school is founded on the belief that young people in grades 6 – 8 have distinct developmental needs. The life of the middle school student is filled with emotional, spiritual, academic, and physical changes.
Our middle school program actively seeks to engage the energy and abilities of students through exploration, discussion, analytical thinking and discovery. Equal attention is devoted to emerging interpersonal skills and lifelong learning skills and habits. Coastal Christian’s middle school is a place where students know they are cared for and are challenged to succeed in a variety of areas.
With an average class size of 14 students, personal contact between students and teachers is frequent. We have a team of three teachers who collaborate in caring for all of our middle school students, fostering community within those grades. Field trips, chapel, extra or co-curricular programs and team sports in the middle school further educate our students and foster a greater sense of belonging. Coastal Christian recognizes and supports the zest, playfulness and energy of the early adolescent and believes that these qualities are compatible with serious academic endeavor.
The middle school faculty expects our early adolescents to work within the framework of a traditional academic program. Core courses for the middle school include:
Enrichment classes are offered in Music, Art, Drama, and Computer Technology. As a result of these greater expectations, the workload increases and becomes more demanding. All faculty and staff are committed to being positive role models and demonstrating Christian values to our middle school students.
